Apple Cider Substitute: The Best 6 Alternatives

4. Substitute For Apple Cider Vinegar

But what if you do not have ACV at home? Can you use Vinegar instead? The answer is yes. Malt Vinegar

Malt Vinegar is made from malted barley that has been fermented. It will work like a charm as a substitute for ACV especially for fish, chips sauces and pickling. Although it might not be an excellent alternative to Apple Cider Vinegar in salad dressings.

White Wine Vinegar

White Wine Vinegar has an acidity of 5 to 6 per cent, which makes it very close to ACV acidity and allows you to substitute one for another and use almost the same amount of each.

Substitute one tablespoon of Apple Cider with half a tablespoon of White Wine Vinegar.

White Vinegar

White Vinegar has a bit more acidity than ACV and White Wine Vinegar since it varies from 5 to 8 per cent. It has a sour flavour and lacks the fruity taste of ACV but can still be a good substitute, especially for pickling.

Rice Wine Vinegar

Rice Wine Vinegar is the perfect alternative to Apple Cider Vinegar in salad dressings recipes. Its acidity is just in the middle, which gives total control of the taste. You can always add some Lemon Juice to increase the sour taste. 

Substitute one tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar with one tablespoon of Rice Wine Vinegar.
